Grounds Activities Guide — EA SPORTS FC 27

Beyond Rush queues and Clubs matches, The Grounds in EA SPORTS FC 27 packs a catalogue of in-world activities and mini-games detailed in the official Grounds & Clubs Deep Dive (August 4, 2026). These modes teach first touch, timing, and party coordination without requiring a full 11v11 squad. During the invite-only Closed Beta (August 5–25, 2026) they are ideal feedback labs on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2. Retail launch is September 25, 2026; treat activity rewards as disposable unless EA confirms carryover.

Read The Grounds for districts and Terrace orientation, Clubs in The Grounds for Clubhouse tournaments, and Amps & Archetypes for match consumables that also apply to in-world Rush.

Why activities matter in beta

Activities solve three Closed Beta problems:

  1. Short sessions when 11v11 queues are empty off-peak
  2. Skill isolation — practice lob precision, shielding, or aerial timing without matchmaking variance
  3. Campaign linkage — Live Service events can chain Kickabouts into stadium finales

File bugs with activity name, district, party size, and build ID. Do not stream Closed Beta gameplay — see Beta Rules & Feedback.

Attacking Scenarios (2v2)

Attacking Scenarios is a competitive 2v2 on a medium walled pitch across four one-minute rounds. Each round draws a random scenario from a pool of ten. There is no goalkeeper, no fouls, and no offsides — only the scenario requirements count. If you score without meeting the requirement, a new ball launches immediately.

When the timer hits 0:00 the ball pops and the next scenario begins. After four rounds the team with more points wins; ties trigger a fifth sudden-death minute using one of the two leftover scenarios.

Point flavour (official Deep Dive examples):

TierExample requirementsPoints
BronzeDribble-in finish, first-time shot, break a target, wall-bounce goal1
SilverThree passes then score, collect three balloons, aerial goal2
GoldScore from a zone, score through gates, Ball Hog hold-to-score1–6

Beta checklist. Confirm scenario banners are readable on Switch 2 handheld, and that wall collisions do not soft-lock possession.

Bucket Ball (2v2)

Bucket Ball is a three-minute 2v2 (plus one-minute overtime) on a medium pitch. Score by sending the ball through the opposition hoop using precision lob, aerial header, or spike.

Shot types called out officially:

  • Precision Lob Pass — lob button
  • Precision Header — lob while the ball is airborne
  • Spikes — shoot while the ball is airborne; higher jumps activate with shoot

Fouls award a free throw: the fouled player has 10 seconds to lob while others freeze. Scoring map: 2 points for free throws or shots from the three-point zone, 3 points beyond that zone, +2 bonus for a spike (up to 4 total).

Overtime is golden-goal style; still tied after OT ends in a draw.

Balloon Ball (4-player FFA)

Balloon Ball is a four-player free-for-all across three rounds. Each player starts with three balloons. Pop opponents by forcefully kicking the ball into them; a cooled-off rolling ball does not register. Last player with a balloon standing wins the round.

Obstacles thin out as rounds progress. A golden balloon power-up grants Invincible, Tyres, or Boomerang Ball. At thirty seconds remaining, Sudden Death turns the power-up red (uncollectable) and fires balls at survivors every three seconds.

Scoring: 1st 250 / 2nd 150 / 3rd 75 / 4th 50 points per round; highest cumulative total wins.

Goal Control (1v1)

Goal Control is a 1v1 with eight goals across three one-minute rounds. Goals start neutral (white). Scoring flips ownership to your colour. Points accrue per second of control (1/sec, or 2/sec when you own every goal). Some rounds enable a Golden Goal modifier that awards control of additional goals. Sudden death resolves ties.

Practice Controls jockey habits — owning the middle goals often matters more than chase-downs.

Drop Kick Targets

Targets (circles, rings, pentagons) scatter across The Grounds world. Spawn a ball on command and time power to break them. Weekly Objectives may ask you to hunt Targets district-wide for rewards — perfect for Terrace exploration between Clubs queues.

Kickabouts and small-sided maps

Alongside named mini-games, Deep Dive coverage still highlights walk-up Kickabouts and small-sided maps (1v1 / 2v2 / 3v3 / 5v5). Use Kickabouts as social warm-ups; use Attacking Scenarios when you want competitive rules without stadium matchmaking.

Live Service chaining

Campaigns and In-World Events can link activities: start with Kickabouts in Montclair, finish in Rush or 11v11 Stadium. Seasons (about every 4–6 weeks) and Takeovers/Campaigns (about every 2–4 weeks in community briefings) will refresh atmosphere and rewards after launch. Track dated notes on Updates and Pitch Notes Roundup.

Suggested Closed Beta rotation

  1. Ten minutes Drop Kick Targets while friends load in
  2. Two Attacking Scenarios sets for finishing variety
  3. One Bucket Ball for lob/spike timing
  4. One Balloon Ball FFA for chaos netcode checks
  5. One Goal Control duel before Clubs Rush

End with notes on which activity taught Authentic Gameplay habits fastest — feed that into What’s New Review comparisons after patches.

The Grounds activities turn downtime into deliberate practice. Master the rule cards now so September live events feel like familiar drills instead of brand-new chaos.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

What mini-games are in The Grounds in FC 27?

Official Deep Dive coverage highlights Attacking Scenarios, Bucket Ball, Balloon Ball, Goal Control, and Drop Kick Targets, plus Kickabouts and small-sided maps.

How does Attacking Scenarios scoring work?

Four one-minute rounds each pull a random scenario. Only goals that meet the scenario requirements score. Ties add a fifth sudden-death round.

What is Bucket Ball?

A 2v2 hoop game scored with precision lobs, headers, and spikes. Fouls grant a ten-second free throw while other players freeze.

Is Balloon Ball team-based?

No. It is a four-player free-for-all where you pop opponents' balloons across three escalating rounds.

Do activity rewards carry from Closed Beta to launch?

Assume no. Use August testing to learn rules and file feedback; rebuild progression after early access on September 18.

Where do I start if I am new to The Grounds?

Read The Grounds hub guide for districts, then return here to practise one mini-game per session before Clubs queues.
